Antioxidants and Heart Health

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Antioxidants promote cell health by neutralizing free radicals. Antioxidants are important to the health of the cells in our body and everyone needs antioxidants for health balance. Antioxidants also help maintain healthy arteries, and are important to those on a cholesterol control program or anyone interested in heart health. Healthy arteries are the means of supplying blood flow to the heart and keeping arteries in their already healthy condition is so important to continual heart-health care.

Res-Q CellPower is an excellent antioxidant supplement. Res-Q CellPower helps maintain healthy arteries, promotes cardiovascular health and contains Co-Q10 which is also utilized for energy production within the “power-plant” of the cell. Res-Q Mega Acai will help enhance these heart-healthy benefits by neutralizing multiple kinds of free radicals and may be used with Res-Q CellPower. For more information about Res-Q CellPower, please contact a Res-Q consultant by calling toll free 1-800-26-ALIVE.

Are you taking a statin medication for cholesterol?
If so, you should be taking an omega-3 supplement.

A randomized placebo-controlled clinical study revealed that adding 4 grams of omega-3 EPA/DHA to statin drug therapy, can reduce triglycerides by almost 30%!

Obviously statin drugs are not enough.  Adding beneficial nutrients to a statin drug improves the outcome.

Taking omega-3 EPA and DHA did not raise the LDL cholesterol and it is interesting to note that after 8 weeks of supplement use, the LDL particle size was larger in the group taking omega-3. It is thought that the size of cholesterol (the size of the LDL), may be important to know, just like the amount of cholesterol, the cholesterol number (Example: LDL, non-HDL, and Total Cholesterol) is important to know.   A larger cholesterol-size may be less likely to harm the arteries, then a smaller cholesterol-size.
