Testimonial Week: What People are Saying About Res-Q Supplements

Monday, February 27th, 2012

Do you have a testimonial to share on any of our Res-Q products? Send your testimonials to sales@n3inc.com and you could be featured on our blog.

George from Cherry Hill, NJ: Res-Q 1250 and red yeast rice have worked for me. I’ve been taking Res-Q for probably ten years. I’m 82 years old but I feel like I’m only 38. I don’t need to take any medications. I have some aches and pains but nothing major. Res-Q has really been wonderful for me. I work out regularly, walk one-two miles a day and I watch what I eat. I think it is all important. I’ve recommended many people to Res-Q because I believe in it and think it’s a good thing.

Mrs. Eddie MacGee from Harrisburg, PA: At least 12 years ago a test revealed that my total cholesterol was 386. The doctor put me on Mevacor. I believe that was the only statin available at that time. It did not decrease my numbers so as new statins became available I had tried Lipitor which reduced my numbers, but only to 360 and I began having bad leg cramps and had to stop taking it. I then tried every other statin on the market and each one gave me the leg cramps and did not make a significant difference in bringing down my total cholesterol. I was getting very frustrated and worried about my cholesterol problem because my Father had five heart attacks and died from his last one. Then finally I got help! A friend told me that she had heard about Res-Q on the radio and I took it upon myself to give up on statins and send for your product. I began taking it as prescribed on the bottle. My next blood test was done three months later and the results were remarkable. My total cholesterol was down to 280. My doctor could not believe it. I told her I had been taking Res-Q and gave her the information about it. She was so pleased with what it had done for me. I have been taking it for many years now and a few years ago added L-D-L Less to my daily medication. Today my total cholesterol, LDLs and HDL numbers are all where they should be. Every time I get my blood test results and see the numbers of a “normal healthy lady” I know it is because, many years ago, I found Res-Q and then L-D-L- Less. I cannot thank you enough for getting rid of my cholesterol problem!

Michael R. from Orefield, PA: A heart problem six years ago resulted in my having a couple of stent implants, and since then I’ve become a loyal fan of Res-Q 1250. With the recent arrival of Res-Q Orosine, I’ve added it to my daily meds / supplements, and I credit it with the improved results of my May ’09 stress test when compared with one taken two years ago. Along with more energy and an easier walk on the treadmill, an average fifteen point drop in my blood pressure is a welcome bonus.

John from Ambler, PA: A friend told me how Res-Q products helped him so I decided to finally call. What an improvement. I am 42 and have had 2 heart attacks and 3 bi-passes. My cardiologist was going to send me to a special doctor across the country because he told me he didn’t know what else to do for me. Needless to say my cardiologist is thrilled and shocked with my results. I have never felt better in my life. Thanks Res-Q!!!!”

Gregory from Simi Valley, CA: I got results in 2 months of taking your products. I was very happy and my doctor was in disbelief!

Five Myths of Exercise

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

Think you know it all about exercise? Check out these “myths” and see if you’re right!

1. Myth: I can just start exercising or running. I don’t need any special training.

False. Unlike diving into a pool of cold water, exercise and the intensity and duration of your workouts are things that you want to gradually build up. The National Institute of Aging recommends starting with “5 or 10 minutes at a time, and then build up to at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity endurance activity.” Not only should you start gradually, you want to be sure to build up to 30 minutes or more per day. “Doing less than 10 minutes at a time won’t give you the desired heart and lung benefits.”

2. Myth: If I do two straight hours of strenuous exercise, I only have to do it once a week.

False. You need to be active every day or almost every day of the week. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “Most adults need at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity at least five days per week. Examples include walking briskly, mowing the lawn, dancing, swimming for recreation or bicycling.”

3. Myth: Only aerobic exercise promotes weight loss.

False. Anaerobic, strength training, resistance training, lifting weights or other types of exercise that work the muscles not only help to improve lean body mass, build muscle and accelerate weight loss, but can improve your appearance, health, self-esteem and blood sugar. In fact, according to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, cross training (doing several different types of exercise) can provide a “total body tune-up.” Multiple exercise routines also stave off boredom!

4. Myth: I can exercise on my own. I don’t need help or instruction.

True. But only if you know what you’re doing! Anyone who has ever been to a formal exercise class at the gym over a period of time knows the benefits of learning how to exercise properly. Even if you are doing common exercises that you have done for years, you could be doing them wrong. If an exercise is not done correctly, there is a risk of injury. You can always benefit from the experience of learning how to do the exercises properly. Prevention Magazine recently published an article, “Nine Exercises that People Do Wrong.” Consult a certified personal trainer before working out, to make sure that you are doing the exercise correctly. Proper form is actually more important than reps or the amount of weight. Once you have a good understanding of form, then exercising at home can be fun and worthwhile.

5. Myth: No pain, no gain. Exercise should not feel good.

False. For many of us, the biggest hurdle to conquer when it comes to exercising is that we simply don’t like its pain or discomfort. The thing is, this is a huge myth. There are two states of exercise: aerobic and anaerobic. Aerobic exercise generally makes you feel good. Your heart rate is high, but not high enough to feel uncomfortable. Your breathing is steady. And you’re not sweating too much. Anaerobic exercise, however, is the type that gives exercise its no pain, no gain reputation. It’s an intense type of workout that athletes use to gain muscle and speed quicker than usual. And it can only be sustained for a very short interval. If you are just starting out, keep away from anaerobic exercise training. Get a heart-rate monitor and learn to keep your heart rate in its aerobic or safe zone. You will still lose weight, build muscle and improve heart and lung function, but you will avoid the characteristic pain of exercise.

Supplement of the Week:

Nature’s Shield Weight Control contains the active ingredient found in dark chocolate that helps people feel happy, satisfied and full. Portion control is an important aspect of most weight-loss programs. How many calories you eat and how much you exercise determines how much weight is lost.  Eating too much at one time can provide excess fat or sugar calories that are not burned off and end up stored as body fat. This can make weight loss difficult. Nature’s Shield Weight Control is designed to help control appetite to reduce over-eating.

Did You Know?

Fish are so important to our health, but are they safe?

The most toxic fish are mackerel (king),
marlin,
orange roughy,
shark,
swordfish,
tilefish, tuna
(bigeye, ahi). (nrdc.org)

Methylmercury is the most common form of mercury poisoning found in fish.

“At the right dose and duration of exposure, mercury can impair a person’s memory, ability to learn and behavior; it can also damage the heart and immune system. Even in small quantities, this heavy metal can cause birth defects in fetuses exposed in the womb and in breast-fed newborns whose mothers’ milk is laced with it.” (Discover Magazine)

Our bodies have a natural defense against mercury poisoning. We expel it every 30-40 days, although some people’s bodies lack this ability, making them more susceptible to mercury poisoning.

Other man-made toxins that make their way into the fish we eat are not recognized by our bodies and brains, so we do not have a mechanism to expel them. They can linger in our systems for years, change our DNA, and cause cancer and disease.

The primary source of methylmercury in fish comes from coal-burning plants along the coasts. The mercury rises into the atmosphere and then “rains” into the ocean where plankton eat it. Little fish eat the plankton, bigger fish eat the little fish and so on.

The bigger the fish, the more mercury it contains. Smaller, younger fish are safer to eat.

Biologically, for the health of our brains, hearts and bodies, we require omega-3s every day. That means we should be eating fish every day, but we can’t.

You can only eat the “safest” fish two times a week: anchovies,
butterfish,
catfish,
clam,
crab (domestic), crawfish/crayfish,
croaker (Atlantic),
flounder,
haddock (Atlantic),
hake,
herring,
mackerel (N. Atlantic, chub), mullet, oyster,
perch (ocean), plaice,
pollock,
salmon (wild-caught only),
sardine,
scallop,
shad (American),
shrimp,
sole (Pacific),
squid (calamari),
tilapia,
trout (freshwater),
whitefish and
whiting. (nrdc.org)

Aside from mercury, there are over 500 other toxins found in fish.

“Fish flesh stores contaminants, such as PCBs, which cause liver damage, nervous-system disorders and fetal damage; dioxins, also linked to cancer; radioactive substances like strontium 90; and other dangerous contaminants like cadmium, mercury, lead, chromium and arsenic, which can cause health problems ranging from kidney damage and impaired mental development to cancer.” (peta.org)

Seafood is the number-one cause of food poisoning in the United States.

My Grandfather’s Story: A Fight Lost to Heart Disease

Tuesday, February 7th, 2012

In 1951, a traveling salesman named Bill took one last sip of coffee, adjusted his tie and hat, and kissed his wife and kids goodbye. Along his route he started to have trouble walking, then speaking. He began to slur his words. He then felt numbness on the left side, down his face and arms. He got in his car immediately, and headed to the first hospital he could find. As he stumbled into the ER, slurring his words, asking for help, most likely not knowing what was happening to him, the nurse on duty coldly asked him to leave. He wouldn’t. He desperately tried to tell her that something was wrong, but he couldn’t. His words were mumbled and his eyes drooped. By anyone’s account, he looked intoxicated. And so the nurse called security and had him thrown out.

“We don’t take care of drunks!” she shouted after him.

But he wasn’t drunk. He was having a stroke. And as he somehow managed to get back into his car and drive several miles into the next town to another hospital, the pain in his head multiplied. When he finally got to the door of the ER, he collapsed. An emergency crew dragged him in, but it was too late. He was dead… only 33 years old.

Although this is my grandfather’s story, it’s much more my father’s story and the reason why he created a company devoted to eradicating heart disease. My grandfather died when my father was only eight years old. Experiencing the loss of a parent at such a young age can be devastating. It can also create within a person the drive and inspiration to find ways to change the world.

Unfortunately, cardiovascular disease is now the leading cause of death in the United States. It has not decreased since 1951, but increased at an exorbitant rate. According to the American Heart Association, 40.5% of the population of the United States, by 2030, is projected to have some form of cardiovascular disease. That’s a whopping 110 million Americans.

But heart disease is largely preventable. A healthy diet, regular exercise, smoking cessation, drinking alcohol in moderation (if at all) and a healthy weight can help you dodge the heart-disease bullet. Omega-3s (EPA and DHA) can also provide an essential tool to help fight—or even reverse—heart disease.

At Res-Q, we are still carrying on my dad’s mission to save lives and work harder at getting the message out about the importance of our products. Through customer testimonials, we now know what scientists and researchers have predicted all along: Only pure, potent omega-3s are essential at tackling this life-threatening disease, along with diet and exercise.

In recognition of National Heart Month, we remember all the loved ones we lost to heart attacks, strokes and other forms of heart-related diseases. We also celebrate those who have chosen to change their lives and take steps to fight these diseases.
