How to Lower Triglycerides

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

High triglycerides? These cute little lipids found in your blood are very important when it comes to your body’s ability to store fat for later use. If you eat more than you exercise, and your body has no use for all that stored energy it was saving for a really good workout, then all that potential energy turns into fat and you end up with high triglycerides. So what’s a healthy range vs. unhealthy? According to the Mayo Clinic, normal is less than 150, borderline-high is 150 to 199, high is 200 to 499 and very high is 500 or higher. Keep in mind that high triglycerides raise your risk for heart disease, which is preventable! Here are a few quick tips to lowering them: (more…)

What Type of Omega-3 Supplement Should I Buy: Fish Oil or Flaxseed?

Monday, September 20th, 2010

As a source of omega-3, fish oils are better than flaxseed. Here’s why:

 I. Lots of scientific reports on omega-3 from fish oils:

Studies identify fish-oil supplements with heart-healthy benefits.

For example, the American Heart Association’s scientific statement specifically mentions the amount of evidence on omega-3 fatty acids derived from fish oils: “The hypotriglyceridemic effects of omega-3 fatty acids from fish oils are well established.”1 This means that fish-oil supplements can lower triglycerides, the blood fats that can contribute to a high total cholesterol number.  (more…)

A Major Risk Factor for Heart Disease: High Cholesterol

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

High cholesterol leads to heart disease. In fact, high cholesterol is a major risk factor for heart disease and the higher your cholesterol is, the greater your chance of developing atherosclerosis, fatty deposits formed from cholesterol that collect in the arteries and restrict blood flow. According to the American Heart Association, “As blood cholesterol rises, so does risk of coronary heart disease.”

However, this major risk factor is a risk factor that you have the power to change! (more…)

How do you know that your omega-3 supplement is being absorbed?

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009
In order for an omega-3 supplement to work, it has to be digested, enter the bloodstream, and go to work inside the body performing the health benefits of omega-3: lower triglycerides, a healthy heart rhythm, elastic blood vessels, and reduced inflammation.

Measurabe Results (Cholesterol Lowering)

Scientists can tell that an omega-3 supplement is being absorbed and is performing well in the body by evaluating the measurable results of the omega-3 product in clinical studies such as lowered blood levels of triglycerides, and reduced c-reactive protein levels, an inflammation factor. There are measurable tests that can be performed. (more…)

Why take that many Res-Q 1250 capsules per day?

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Res-Q 1250 Capsules One of the most commonly asked Res-Q questions is, “Why do you take so many Res-Q 1250 capsules per day?”

The answer is, “Because this is what works.”

Res-Q 1250 is highly concentrated. Even if you took one capsule a day of the most concentrated marine oil product on the market like Res-Q 1250, you would still get a better value for your dollar. It would take 12 capsules of the typical low-potency fish oil capsules to equal 6 capsules of Res-Q 1250. (more…)

How Does Res-Q 1250 Compare to Cod Liver Oil?

Monday, April 20th, 2009

Res-Q 1250 Capsules and Liquid Lemon

Res-Q 1250 provides cardiovascular health benefits that most fish oils can not provide.
Res-Q 1250 is specifically formulated to provide the proper levels of EPA and DHA for cardiovascular health. Most fish oils that I have seen do not provide enough omega-3 to be effective. Multiple reports show that 3,000 milligrams or more of omega-3 fats in the form of EPA and DHA are necessary for specific cardiovascular-health benefits such as reducing triglycerides. The triglycerides comprise the total cholesterol. Therefore, the triglyceride number affects the total cholesterol number. (more…)

Recent News: Are cholesterol concerns on the rise?

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

It seems that more people need help for their cholesterol. According to USA Today, “80% of men older than 50 and women older than 60 should be taking a cholesterol-lowering drug, raising the total for whom the drugs are recommended to 44.7 million. That’s an increase of more than 11 million people.”

With cholesterol concerns increasing, natural products may be in big demand. Our live call-in radio shows help people by offering diet and weight management advice in addition to all-natural dietary supplements.

For some people, natural solutions could mean less medication. We advise our customers not to stop their medications on their own. By not making any changes, the results of taking the Res-Q products can be measured. Some of our customers have not started medicine yet. The results of taking Res-Q products can be seen after 6-8 weeks. As always, continue to work with your doctor. For more information on which products you need, call and speak with a Res-Q consultant prior to ordering: 1-800-262-5483. (more…)

What is metabolic syndrome?

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

“Metabolic syndrome refers to a cluster of risk factors for diabetes and heart disease — including abdominal obesity, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, low levels of “good” HDL cholesterol and high triglycerides (another type of blood fat). The syndrome is typically diagnosed when a person has three or more of these conditions.”1

Recently, it was reported that having metabolic syndrome increases the risk of future kidney problems. Metabolic syndrome also increases your risk of cardiovascular health problems.

Is the Triglyceride Form of Omega-3 Better than Ethyl Ester?

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

No. The truth is that ethyl esters perform just as well in the body as triglycerides do.

In a twelve week randomized crossover study, an ethyl ester concentrate of EPA and DHA was compared with a triglyceride-based fish oil. Both preparations reduced triglycerides by 50%.1 It is the level of omega-3 essential fatty acids consumed daily that is imperative to attaining results, and NOT whether the supplement is in a triglyceride form or an ethyl ester form.

As mentioned by Vascular Health and Risk Managment, “A 50% ethyl ester concentrate of EPA–DHA (“Himega”) was compared with a triglyceride-based fish oil in 13 hypertriglyceridemic persons in a twelve week randomized crossover study (Simons et al 1990). Both preparations lowered triglycerides by 50% in doses of 2 g/day or 4 g/day.” (more…)

What about omega-3 eggs as a source of DHA?

Monday, January 5th, 2009

There is not enough omega-3s in omega-3 eggs. Don’t think that you can skip taking an omega-3 supplement. You need to take an omega-3 supplement derived from a fish source to obtain a beneficial level of omega-3 fatty acids.

We looked at a brand-name omega-3 egg with DHA. We compared the amount of DHA to the DHA supplement in Res-Q 1250.
